2020 turned into something that I never could have imagined. This time last year I was ready for it to be THE year. You know which year I’m referring to, right? The one where I finally get my shit together and life makes sense. Well, then the pandemic hit and life got 70 times harder. Day after day we were forced to live with new health orders and new advice. Fake news exploded and conspiracy theories were everywhere. Needless to say 2020 was not THE year. It brought tears, sadness and loneliness to entirely new levels. It was a year of resilience. The goal quickly changed to simply making it through. Staying alive and healthy became the new goal. It became a mission. Clearly, I made it through. I’ve learned to be resilient in a whole new way. My priorities changed as did my goals. Now I find myself at…
Year: 2020
Deck the halls and start baking some cookies, because Christmas is NEXT week. How did it sneak up on me so fast? I swore after last year, I was going to be ready for Christmas this year with months to spare. I’m beginning to understand that 2020 was a year like no other. With the number of covid-19 cases rising rapidly day after day, there is simply no way I could have been as prepared as I would have liked. So I’m drowning in amazon packages that have yet to be opened, and the pile of Christmas decorations I promised my kids we’d hang up. Alongside that don’t forget all the snowmen that are yet to be built, and the cookies that need baking. Christmas comes with a lot to do, and every mama out there likely wants to make it as magical as possible. This year memories are going…

Being insecure is something I have struggled with my entire life. Body image issues have lived with me from the beginning. I`ve always sought approval, and validation from outside sources, rather than internal. I have tried many times to convince myself that this wasn`t the case, but none the less, it was, and it is. Learning how to re-focus, and even learn to love what I deem to be flaws has been hard. Being our own biggest critics, I think it`s hard to take what we presume to be negative and turn it into positive. Where does this flaw-like thinking start? For me, it began as a child. I can of course only speak personally. With body image issues beginning as early as 5, it is easy to assume that I was not alone in the struggle. Body image being how one perceives their body, and how they assume others…

The school year is upon us, and before it starts, I wanted to share with you 10 things you can do to ensure you’re ready! I don’t know about you but over the summer I get a little lazy with house stuff. There isn’t a big sense of urgency, especially now when we’ve all been home for 6 months!! I’m not ashamed to admit that my kids and I have spent more days in pyjamas than daytime clothes. There wasn’t a reason to hound them to get ready for their day. So, you want to wear pjs for the third day in a row, go for it. Laundry is something I suck at frankly. I start it with good intentions,…
Many people think that curly hair is easy. They think it’s just curly, every day, and voila! We look like superstars. But, the work with curly hair is all behind the scenes. It’s what happens when the curls are being washed, dried, styled, and even slept on that creates those gorgeous easy-looking curls. Curls look easy, simple, and effortless. But the truth for many is actually quite the opposite. Curls for many, require work and patience. Curls are a lot of trial and error, learning products that are best for your hair and hair texture. Patience is a MUST. I haven’t had curly hair my whole life. Just since about age 16. While I’ve embraced it at times, the majority of the time I was trying to straighten them. I can’t even really explain why, besides that it seemed like my messy, all over curls were simply not acceptable. I’m…

How to create your dream bedroom: Take some time to really identify what you like, and dislike in your bedroom. Think about what helps you, and what would help you. What feels calming and relaxing to you? Do you like candles, music? What about your lighting? Does it feel good to you? Pick up your clothing. I am…
