When we are children, we learn all different emotions and feelings, but I don`t remember learning gratitude. It wasn`t until the late teens that I heard the phrase you are so ungrateful. So now, I could put a meaning to UNgrateful, but I still didn`t really know what gratitude was. I just knew, however, I was being the opposite of it. And still, that would only be that one person’s version of it.

What is gratitude?

Gratitude is the quality of being thankful and ready to show appreciation for and to return kindness. It means being thankful and appreciative. Gratitude is the act of feeling and expressing appreciation and thankfulness for the people, things, experiences, or moments in our lives. It’s a positive emotion that acknowledges the good in our lives, even amidst challenging circumstances. Gratitude can take many forms, such as expressing thanks verbally, writing a thank-you note, or simply feeling grateful in our hearts. It’s an attitude and perspective that can be cultivated and practiced, leading to improved well-being and a more positive outlook on life. I was more positive and calm in my daily interactions because things were in perspective and the bad didn’t feel like it was overpowering the good.
