AD| This journal was gifted to me in exchange for a blog post. All opinions are my own and the only thing provided to me was the journal.

Today, as I looked at this beautiful journal I was gifted, I was stumped for a few moments.

When we are children, we learn all different emotions, and feelings, but I don`t remember learning gratitude. It wasn`t until my late teen years that I heard the phrase you are so ungrateful. So now, I could put a meaning to UNgrateful, but I still didn`t really know what gratitude was. I just knew however I was being was the opposite of it. And still, that would only be to that one persons version of it.

So, let`s start at the top. What is gratitude?

Gratitude is the quality of being thankful, and readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. It means being thankful and appreciative.

Why should we express gratitude?

First, expressing gratitude is more than just saying thank you. It is like an attitude of living in a thankful way and with an appreciative attitude. According to Forbes there are many benefits to expressing gratitude.

You will have more opportunities to create meaningful connections and relationships. Feeling grateful can lead to happier feelings, and a better connection with your mind, body and soul, ultimately improving your physical and mental health. Expressing gratitude can make you a calmer, and easier to approach person with the ability to express empathy and sympathy on a much different level. A much deeper level. Expressing gratitude can bring you higher self-esteem and confidence.

Why a gratitude journal is so helpful:

A gratitude journal can help you to re-focus your mindset and attitude back to positive. It can help you to remain positive which can also be helpful in building resiliency and reaching your dreams and aspirations. It can also help you to see what it is you are wanting and needing in life.

I love this gratitude journal and have learned so much. I wanted to share some of my favorite things in it.

Right at the beginning is a big list of happiness tips. The whole page has wonderful and beautiful tips that make me happy even just reading them, so implementing them would definitely be fantastic. Some of these include laughing more, keeping a daily routine, meditating, getting enough sleep and there are so many more.

It goes on to explain how daily affirmations and mantras empower your soul and explains in an easy to understand way step by step how to create your own. Below, there is beautiful space to create your own and write it down to allow for reminder on a daily basis. The journal goes on to explain breathing to change your mood (and this is incredible).

There is a page titled My Bucket List, helping you to narrow down exactly what you are wanting from life. This one really got me thinking, because, as a mom, I don`t often think of what I want in life. A place to write down what my wants are really started to get me thinking about me.

Each day there is space to write 3 things that you were grateful for, three great things that happened, and what you will focus on tomorrow.

At the bottom of each page is a happiness tracker. Every few weeks in the book is even a check-in. I really think this book has it all. It is so beautiful in it`s minimalist and simple design. I would recommend this to everyone! I am absolutely in love with mine.

Expressing gratitude is something that I am learning to do on a regular basis, and this journal has definitely been helping me find a focus that is more clear, and more positive.

Imagine this:

You wake up, whenever your alarm goes off, and you sit up in your bed, for a moment. Take a few deep breaths and let your body know that it`s time to wake up. Make your bed, brush your teeth, and head downstairs for your coffee/tea. When you are drinking it, open up this incredible gratitude journal, and devote a few minutes to it. All you need is a couple minutes, and give it a short amount of time, and notice how you feel. Be mindful and honest in your writing.

Do you have a gratitude journal? Have you ever used one?

Love Always, N
