AD – I was gifted 2 sets of amazing stackable rings for my wedding (which is a month away! eeeek!!) I’m beyond excited to share this small biz with you!!!
Today I’m sharing some simple and meaningful jewellery that I am so grateful to have received for my wedding! Please welcome Sol Impressions!
1. Please introduce yourself! Tell me about you and your small biz!
I’m Sandra Chabot, the owner, designer and creator behind Sol Impressions. My purpose with Sol Impressions is to merge creativity with self expression and having it reflect in the jewellery pieces.
Inspired by everything and anything that makes me think, feel and wonder, each item in the shop is made to inspire. With a touch simplicity, each piece is made with the purpose of making a true impression.⠀
As for myself, I’m half Canadian, half Portuguese and I’m currently living in Ottawa with my partner, our four cats and our dog. I love plant-based cooking and baking, drawing, listening to music, being out in nature and being surrounded with animals.
2. Where does the name of your shop come from? What does it mean to you?
When coming up with my shop name, I wanted to make sure to incorporate a bit of myself as well as describe what feeling I hope to evoke with my jewellery pieces. Sol means ‘sun’ in Portuguese. For me, the sun symbolizes light, growth and positivity; everything I would want my customers to feel when wearing one of my pieces. Sol also sounds like ‘soul’ and so, tying in my purpose with Sol Impressions, my hope is that whoever wears my pieces will be reminded of what is important to them.
Impressions also has a double meaning. The first pieces I started to make (that are now my bestsellers) were the bangles that I hand stamped with words and/or phrases. Not only did the stamps left physical impressions on the metal but I also hoped that the bangles, as well as all my other pieces, left positive impressions on whoever was wearing them.
3. How long have you had your small biz? How did you get started? Have you been doing it long?
I started making jewellery for fun around 5 years ago. I wore my jewellery at work and co-workers started asking about them and even bought a few pieces. However, I became more serious about it around the end of 2017 and I’ve been making and selling my jewellery on my Etsy shop and at events since then. My goal was and is still to use jewellery and accessories as self expression.
4. What are your social links so we can follow you?
5. What is the best part about being a small biz owner?
The best part of being a small business owner is being able to be creative and being able to make tangible pieces that were once an idea in my head. Meeting and interactive with my customers, whether in person or online, is also a rewarding part of the business and makes up for the challenging aspects of owning your own business.
6. What is the last movie you watched?
Across the Universe. Not a new movie but it’s one I can watch over and over again. I love the visual, the storyline and of course, the music!
7. What are you reading?
I’m currently reading Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. A great read for getting a new perspective on creativity.
Please go give a follow and visit this amazing shop!
Love Always, Enn
