It isn’t new news that the world is in lock down.

Never in my life did I think I’d live to see this. I thought it was stuff only for the movies. It’s terribly sad, and worrisome, and is creating so much anxiety for many. Financial stress, work stress, and on top of all this, I’m betting new relationships are feeling the struggle and burden of all this. Physical intimacy is an important part of relationships, and that is impossible being in lock down. You can make up for it by strengthening your emotional intimacy and relationship with each other. By taking this time to get to know each other a little bit deeper than you did before.

So, how do you keep your relationship going strong?

VIRTUAL DATES! Here are 5 wonderful virtual date ideas that are sure to keep you and your partner laughing, and getting to know each other in an emotionally intimate way!a

1. Bake/cook something new together.

Decide on a recipe that is new to the both of you. With the help of video chat, you’ll build a connection through learning, and trying something new. Baking or cooking something new together can be a stimulating and rewarding experience, opening the door for many laughs, and creating a casual environment to get to know each other.

2. Set up a virtual coffee date.

If you used a site like Cardiff dating site a coffee date is often one of the very first dates a new couple goes on. It’s a great opportunity to get to know each other better in a casual environment. Lock down doesn’t have to stop that! Set up a time, dim the lights, play background music, and brew you’re favorite coffee. Take that time to ask each other questions and get to know each other deeper.

Questions you can ask: Do you have any pets? What are some of your favorite movies? What is your most common plan on a Friday night?

3. Using NetFlix party, watch a movie together!

Netflix party allows you to watch something together AND get to chat about it. So you can still laugh together and guess what’s going to happen next. A few of my favorite rom-coms are Falling Inn Love, He’s Just Not That Into You, and The Holiday.

4. Get creative together!

You can do a project through video chat! You both could work on the same project together, or you could each do a different one and simply share the experience of doing it together.

5. Be penpals!

When did people stop sending each other letters?! It’s such a very personal way to connect with each other. Write a note and drop it in the mail box! It is such a nice way to stay connected in a personal way.

Keeping your new relationship alive may be tricky.

It is very possible. Try some of these simple date ideas and see how it keeps your relationship alive and intimate.

Have you had any virtual dates during the lock down?

Love Always, N

I’m kinda glad we broke up before this happened… we were already struggling because our work/college schedules didn’t matched; cue him being all like “I want cuddles!!” and me like well… I can’t rn, which he’d just.. “cuddleees!!” and his depression being worst than mine, i’d know he was bad but couldn’t do anything about it.. being scared shitless he’d harm himself or something.
So THIS, this would’ve been so hard on us… I can’t even imagine.
