Life with N,  N`s Friends

Meet Jen

I`ve followed Jen for a little while on Twitter now, and I have admired from afar. Recently we connected in one of my self-love programs, and my admiration grew even more! She is an amazing mental health advocate and I am SO excited to have her on Thoughts with N!

1. SO excited you`re here!!! Can you tell us a little bit about you?

Yay! I’m excited too! I’m Jen. I’m married to my love of over 14 years. We have 2 awesome kids (ages 4.5 and almost 3), a pup-pup, and cat. We live in the Chicago area, and just moved into a new home. In my spare time, I love watching tv and reading. I also work out whenever I can.

2. How old is your blog, and how did it come to be?

I started it in January 2019. I was sharing my journey with mental health more openly and receiving good feedback about that. So I decided to open up my readership to a wider audience!

3. How do you find it is managing life AND writing? Any tips?

It’s hard sometimes, not gonna lie. I make a blogging schedule, and am intentional about getting those posts published. Sometimes I wake up early and work on it then before the kids wake up. Write about something that matters to you, and you will find the time.

4. Have you always enjoyed writing, or is it a newer hobby?

I started writing when I was 9. I wrote a short story for school about a girl who trained her gerbil to do tricks. I have been doing it on and off since then!

5. What does the future look like for your blog?

I would love to monetize it obviously (gotta help fund these Disney trips!) But more importantly, I want my message of hope and courage to reach as many people as possible!

6. Where does the name of your blog come from?

When I really started caring about my health a few years ago, I started using essential oils (hence, “diffusing”). I used them for immune support, but also for help managing my emotions. Thus, Diffusing the Tension was born.

7. Can you give one piece of blogging/writing advice before you go?

Be patient. We aren’t all Scary Mommy overnight. You have to spend the time being consistent with your writing, and with posting on social media. The followers will come. Plan + write + publish + promote + engage. PWPPE. Get that tattooed!

Jen has AMAZING advice! Thank you for sharing it with us!!

I am so excited to have her here! Please join me in welcoming her and go give her a follow!
