The leaves are changing colour and the bright green is saying goodbye. Flashes of yellow and orange are all I can see. I smile to myself. . there is the odd fiery red and plumish purple too. Isn’t it amazing how beautiful Autumn is? And that it happens so naturally. I find such peace in Autumn.
Today, particularly, is rainy. The forecast for the new three days is rain. And you know what? It doesn’t bother me at all. I’m craving the comfort of the raindrops falling, and the cool October breeze blowing through my windows. I want to see everything go to sleep, fall of their branches, and shrivel up. Nature gives us this blessing every year, and every year I just can’t get enough of it.
A tear falls. Slowly. Down my cheek. How can I exist in something so beautiful? Nature is divine. I find it especially exceptional during this season. I feel like it’s such a gift that I live in a place with these kinds of Octobers. I love the dreariness. I love the clouds. And the pitter-patter raindrops sing me to sleep.
October is a reminder that darkness is beautiful too. That there is beauty in change. And that we can rise from the ashes. October is a month of grieving the sparkling sunshine leaving and celebrate the festive season that lay ahead.
My favourite way to show myself self-care is with candles, self-care boxes and more! Here are some of my favourites this season:
“Our thoughtfully curated candles bring together the best of both worlds. The beautiful creaminess of coconut wax with the stability of all natural soy wax. These candles burn elegantly slow with a gentle crackling sound that only a wood wick can create. Adding to the mood, the rosewood wicks offer that sitting by the fireplace feeling.”
“I created my Etsy shop after I had made a couple wooden signs and my mom said I needed to do something with them! From there I started working with vinyl more and fell in love with putting cute phrases or images on wineglasses and coffee mugs to share with others. The self care kits are my best seller and I think they make the perfect gift for so many people. They can be given as birthday gifts, mothers day presents, Christmas presents, sending a little hope in a box, the possibilities are endless but they always put a smile on peoples faces. I try to keep my shop simple and rustic, not everything needs to be over the top and I think people really enjoy that!”
With the seasons changing, I want to remind you to take care of yourself. Listen to your body. Show yourself grace, love, and compassion.
