So, I absolutely LOVE little activities that are easy to put together, and are cost efficient, and can be educational.
As you probably know by this point, I have three children, so I also really like when the activity can be easily adaptable to different levels, making it fun for all ages.
This one that I am sharing today is a big hit in my house every fall.
We call it “Moms’ Farm Tray”.
The kids dubbed it that name – not me! Lol
Anyways, I put together this little tray of farm related things, and set it up in different ways and the kids can play individually with it however they want. I made the farm out of popscicle sticks, a few years back (but this would be a great project for older kids too!!). The small pumpkins I purchased at Dollar Tree in a pack for $1.25 , along with the pack of the farm animals. And again, popcorn kernels!
My youngest loves to play, and we are learning animal sounds using the farm animals.
It is also a great way to introduce problem solving skills, as he likes to put the puppy on the roof and call for HELP! Then the question is asked, “what can we do to help?”
My middle one really enjoys playing and has names for all the animals. She has developed personalities for them and a story line to her play. It is absolutely fascinating to hear her play. (You can read more about her over here.)
My oldest is very sensitive to textures and loves to play with the popcorn kernels.
He will at times play with the animals, but it again is in ways of feeling the textures of them.
This whole activity only cost me about $5.00 and I bring it out every fall and they LOVE it!
