This is a sponsored post, but all opinions regarding these being lovely gifts are my own. I recently got out of the hospital (blog post still to come), and after experiencing this, I wanted to create a guide of gifts to give to those who are struggling.

Christmas is a beautiful and sparkly time of year.

But it doesn`t always bring joy and happiness. It can often bring painful memories, and a whole lot of stress. People are pushed to their limits and their mental health is often challenged. While all the sparkles are beautiful, and the carols are simply lovely, I do think it`s important to make note that it is not the most wonderful time of year for everyone.

So how can we still take care of our mental health AND enjoy the holiday season?

First and foremost, be kind to yourself. Allow yourself to feel however you feel, without explanation. Spend some time getting to know your triggers, and learn some tools to help. Practise saying no to things that don`t feel good to your mental state. Make sure to have some self-care time in your busy schedule, and if possible even take a day off to spend on yourself.

Notice how you are feeling and reach out to loved ones. When it comes to financial stresses, making a budget can be helpful, and planning for it throughout the year, rather than having it creep up on you can be beneficial.

Here are a few gifts that I think would be a good gift idea for someone struggling.

Rest & Relax Tea

Rest and Relax Herbal tea blend is a very thoughtful gift to give to someone you love!

This organic herbal tea blend is a simple pleasure  Yes, these herbs are good for you but it’s also the ritual of making a cup of tea that helps you to slow down and enjoy the simple task at hand. It’s also the comfort as you hold your warm tea cup and the smell of the herbs; lavender, chamomile, lemon balm and oat straw that bring  a sense of calm.  The herbs themselves are known to promote relaxation, restful sleep, and calm an anxious mind.

Delivered to you or someone you love free in ??Canada at KatGarrod. Feel free to send in a note when you place your order and Kat will send a free gift card with a special message from you.

Discover A New Future

Her name is Faith Saunders or you may hear, Faith McCalla – same person! She has been honored and privileged to do work that she loves to do. Her career has allowed her to work in various capacities with many different groups in the for-profit, not-for-profit and government arenas. The common thread that binds all of these experiences is that she is able to meet people from various walks of life and have the opportunity to help them, when possible, to live happier and meaningful lives.

She has been a trainer for over 20+ years. Her career started at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), now Rutgers University, where she worked for over 12 years. During this time, she received a Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Rehabilitation from the same and later became an adjunct professor at the School of Health Related Professionals – a position she held for many years. She left Rutgers University to implement and develop a New Jersey State-funded Employment Institute – Career Connection Employment Resource Institute (CCERI) at the Mental Health Association in New Jersey (MHANJ). Faith served as director of CCERI for fourteen years – providing training and technical assistance to over 150 organisations in 10 New Jersey counties on mental health and employment-related issues.

She transitioned to being a ‘full-time’ entrepreneur in 2014. At Discover A New Future, we provide leadership, personal and career development trainings and consultation services to various groups and organisations throughout New Jersey. Our overall objectives in all that
we do are two-fold:

1. to leave people feeling that they were seen and heard
2. to provide individuals with practical tools that they can use to enhance their personal and/or professional lives

So…who am I? “An ordinary person, who is trying to make this world a better place than when I got here.”
Gift Genie Express

This gift set is perfect for anyone who loves essential oils and needs to take some time for self care. Eye pillow infused with lavender can be heated up and or cooled as needed a custom lavender bath bomb, coloring cards with optional coloring pencils. Most importantly the essential oil roller made with the highest quality oils in perfect combination to either give you energy and focus or calm and relaxation. Every box comes with a box of 4 Lindor chocolate truffles.

The shop is owned by Melissa Perez and she opened her gift shop 3 years ago in hopes of spreading her love of gift giving to others. She carefully curates each box so that they send quality, love and care. Melissa was a preschool teacher for 15 years before leaving to take care of her children, 1 of whom has autism and is special needs. Melissa has branched out into creating toys that reflect her expertise in early education, these can be found in her shop.

The shop owner struggles with depression and anxiety. Her company, Kindosity, was started in part to give herself a much-needed hobby in the nothingness of depression, and reflects the values she holds toward herself as well as others.

It’s so important to be kind – especially to yourself. All her candles are lovingly made by someone who knows what a bad day is like, and have imbued in them the wish – the will – to make your day just a little bit better.

Lavender and amethyst are such a luxurious option for someone who is looking to be kind to themselves for the day. She sends out every little packet with a hope that they improve someone’s life.

Perry Lane Studios

This notepad would be such a great gift for anyone, but especially someone who could use some encouragement!

You can write down words of encouragement and positive quotes, to-do lists for all the amazing plans you want to make for the future, or even creating fun little doodles. Put a smile on someone’s face with this fun piece of snail mail!

“During the spring of 2018 I had a dream.  In this dream, I was dealing with depression and was talking to my work supervisor.  In the dream he gave me some advice that changed my waking life.  He told me, “Jessica you just have to do daily honey.”  I asked him what that meant and he said, “You just have to do something sweet for yourself each day.” I woke up from that dream realizing that it held much wisdom.  I wanted to implement it into my own life so I created a Honey Daily Journal with 500+ honey daily activities and a place where I can record my sweet experiences every day.

I have used this journal and have felt the nourishment it brings to my soul to do something sweet for myself more often.  I feel it is the perfect gift for someone dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, bipolar, addiction, divorce or just going through a rough patch.`

Though it is the holidays right now, of course these are beautiful gifts for the season, but really, they are beautiful all year long.

The joy of giving is one that can be carried throughout the year. Remember these small ideas when you or someone you know needs a touch of happiness.

As Always, Love, N
