Hi! Hello! I’m sharing one of the best Canadian small towns today and a community event that draws quite the crowd. Before I dive into all the details, I’d like to invite you to become a Patreon of the blog! Consider this your formal invitation! Thank you. This weekend in Lorette Manitoba was the Lorette Family Fun Days! This 3-day event is super fun and was incredibly missed. We haven’t had it in a few years – Thanks covid.

Best Canadian Small Towns

Before I tell you about this awesome event, let me tell you about my little town. It’s the kind of town where neighbors know each other and truly care. I’ve met some of the nicest people in the world here. It has such a sense of community, it’s incredible. Best Canadian Small Towns - Lorette Family Fun Days - Natasha is walking with her daughter to the fair. The middle of our main street is filled with colorful flowers, the grass in the park is well-kept and there’s barely any graffiti or vandalism. We have a few beautiful parks, a community center, a handful of stores, and an enormous amount of fantastic people.

Hello Lorette

Lorette is by far one of the best Canadian small towns. It has a population of just over 3,000. It’s located about 25 minutes from Winnipeg.

This weekend was Lorette Family Fun Days in our town. It was a weekend jam-packed with affordable fun.

Activities @ Lorette Family Fun Days

  • mini golf
  • wrestling tournament
  • softball tournament
  • beer gardens
  • bbq competition
  • yoga
  • teddy bear hospital
  • face painting
  • barrel rides
  • used book sale
  • bull riding
  • fireworks
  • farmers market
  • and much much more!

The event is super cheap too. It was $10 for a wristband for the entire weekend. SO MUCH FUN for such a small cost. One thing I really love about the setup of this particular event is that it’s in a gated place. There’s a clear entrance and exit. So I don’t worry as much about losing my kids. (I am very nervous about those fairs in the parking lots of malls. There aren’t any clear boundaries and it freaks me out.)

We started out with a mini-golf game. The mini-golf was fun! It was a set of 9 holes with Manitoba-themed obstacles. I didn’t catch the company so unfortunately, I can’t tag them. Sorry! But, if I find out, I will share it.

Lorette is one of the best Canadian small towns for so many reasons. But this Family Fun Fair is one of those top reasons for sure. It’s a blast. How often can you find affordable family entertainment? On Saturday morning the party began again with an awesome petting zoo! That’s the pictures above. (Oops, should have put them here!) The petting zoo was fantastic. We saw sheep, bunnies, puppies, ducks and tiny baby chicks. There was also these balls that you strap yourself into and then run into each other. It created like a bouncy effect. Two of my kids weren’t huge fans but one loved it. It does look like it would be great with the right set of people.

Other Lorette Family Fun Days Activities

There was also face painting, but I will admit. I didn’t want to wait in line for it. (I know, I know, I should have.) In addition to all this, there was also a used book sale, food trucks, a bbq, music, live bands, and much more. We spent six hours there today, and we’ll likely go again. It’s definitely one of the best parts of our town. The people are awesome, cheerful, friendly and the whole event makes me feel like the world is back to normal. Seeing so many people together is amazing. Truthfully, I have to admit, this is my first time in a very public place and I really wasn’t sure how I’d feel.

I feel liberated. I feel excited. I’m so glad that we are able to have events like this again. I never knew I cared so much. The pandemic has shown me that. I’m grateful for this privilege.

Time to go smoke a joint and be present with my little ones. I hope you had the most glorious day, thank you for stopping in here! What is your favorite Manitoba town?

Love Always, natasha

  1. I’ve never been to Lorette before but it sounds like a trip I’d love to make. I love the amount of family activities to enjoy, especially the farmers market and fireworks! Thanks for sharing!
